About College of Technology - Galle
College of Technology, Galle is started in 1957 as a Junior Technical College. It is the second Technical college in Sri Lanka. In year 2007 the college has been upgraded as the only one College of Technology of the Southern Province.
At present the College of Technology, Galle is managed by the Department of Technical Education and Training which functions under the Ministry of Skills Development, Vocational and Technical Education.
There are around 3200 students following 48 different courses, conducted by the college in full time part time and short term basis.
The academic staff of the college is around 150 and it is consist of both permanent and visiting staff. The non academic staff is around 85.
Members of the academic staff are continuously exposed to local and foreign trainings to update and upgrade their knowledge and skills in the relevant subject areas. The physical facilities of the college were updated in recent past under projects from overseas agencies.
The College of Technology Galle is responsible for the monitoring of the academic and administrative functions of the other Technical Colleges of the Southern Province. (Balapitiya, Matara, Beliaththa and Weerawila) .
The College of Technology Galle is the only one ISO 9001 certified government technical institution in Sri Lanka and the college has awarded by the National Productivity awards continuously since 2008.
